About the 2018 Summit

The 2018 GC Leadership Summit, supported by the GC100, will focus on the “Law Department of the Future” and is targeted at both current and aspiring general counsel and law department leaders.

Co-chaired by Grant Dawson, General Counsel and Company Secretary at Centrica and Rosemary Martin, Group General Counsel and Company Secretary at Vodafone.

Attend for a chance to hear an exciting range of speakers discuss themes such as the business environment of the future and the challenges it might present; building  an effective legal team to meet these challenges;  and how to effectively harness the value of new tools and technology as well as workshops on managing stress and mental health; addressing the diversity challenge and identifying legal department KPIs.

We are looking to develop our Inside Life series, a selection of profiles on in-house lawyers from across a variety of roles and industry sectors. The profiles provide a short, personal insight into life in-house and cover three main areas, the individual’s career journey, their current role and the trends they see affecting their industry. Our most recent profiles include those of Nicholas Glicher, Thomson Reuters Foundation and Dominic Bacon, Dabbl. The profiles involve a brief interview (approximately 30  minutes) and the article is sent to the interviewee for approval prior to publication. We would like to conduct a series of interviews at the GC Summit, should you be interested in taking part or learning more, please contact us.

We asked our delegates what they most enjoyed about the 2017 Summit, here’s what they said:

“Will Hutton.  Didn’t expect it all, but some really fascinating, general insights.  The morning sessions were all very good to be honest and the content of the first 3-4 hours alone provided easily the best conference I have ever attended”

– Sarah Groundwater, Head of Legal, HPD Software

“It was all excellent and the best conference I’ve been too. I enjoyed the practical media training and guide to innovation sessions the most as they were very interesting and of great practical value”

– George Pennington, Solicitor, The FA

“The session with Will Hutton, as it was genuinely challenging and thought provoking. I appreciated the way the day and the sessions were organised to encourage interaction and networking”

– David Gribble, Senior Commercial Lawyer, BT

“I very much enjoyed the Keynote, Horizion Scanning and GDPR sessions, although all the sessions I attended were insightful, because of the expertise and content/advice being shared in practical terms to assist our business”

– James Courthold, Head of Legal Compliance, The Furniture Ombudsman
