About the 2015 Forum

“[Data protection] is so important for businesses because it touches every single aspect of business, every worker, every customer and every business partner. It’s important because of its size and its scale” – Stewart Room, Chairman, 2014 Forum

Following the success of last year’s event, Practical Law is pleased to present you the 2015 edition of THE FUTURE OF DATA PROTECTION FORUM. In it’s fourth year, this year’s Forum coincides with the negotiations finalising the European General Data Protection Regulation which is expected to be agreed by the end of this year and come into force by 2017. This year’s Forum will consider the key themes and concerns for data protection professionals now and through the transition process of adjusting to meet the new regulation requirements.

Tailored to legal counsel, data protection officers and privacy professionals, the Forum offers the opportunity for delegates to hear and share real-life examples of overcoming challenges alongside practical approaches to preparing for the GDPR.

The agenda has been developed in consultation with our esteemed advisory board to ensure it covers all the aspects you will need to consider ahead of the GDPR implementation while considering where the opportunities are to utilise data more effectively and efficiently.

Highlights from the agenda:

  • Consumer profiles: what can and can’t you do in light of the GDPR? And how can you make the most of the profiles you’re building?
  • Risk assessments: from identifying the risks and weaknesses in your system, to developing sustainable, strong and low maintenance defences
  • Big data and ethics: with more and more people aware of the data that’s being collected on them, how can you demonstrate your company has an ethical approach to collecting and using the data?
