Jacquie Elliott

Data Protection and Information Governance Lead, Metropolitan Housing Trust

Jacquie’s career in data protection began at the Legal Services Commission (now the Legal Aid Agency) in March 2000 when the 1998 Act came into force.  As Information Compliance Manager, she took the lead on implementing the 1998 Act within the Head Office and 13 regional offices, managing a small team of Information Compliance Officers overseeing the access to information requests within the Commission and providing compliance advice on disclosures under FOIA as well as Subject Access requests.  Jacquie also took the strategic lead to implement an Information Security Management System agenda built on the HMG Security Policy Framework, prior to the LSC’s transition to an Executive Agency of the Ministry of Justice.  She is a BCS qualified data protection Practitioner and also has a Certificate in Information Security Management Principles (CISMP).

Jacquie is now responsible for promoting compliance with the Data Protection Act and other Information Governance legislation across the whole of Metropolitan Housing Trust, its subsidiary companies and its partnerships.  Metropolitan is one of the UK’s leading providers of integrated housing services, providing affordable housing, care and support services and regeneration of communities. It currently has a portfolio over 38,0000 homes serving around 90,000 customers across London, the East of England and the East Midlands.  Jacquie joined Metropolitan in 2013 during a period of transformation and has been instrumental in devising and implementing new policies and processes for personal information handling and sharing of data across the multi agencies it works with to provide services to its customers and stakeholders.  Jacquie has a wealth of experience with handling complex subject access requests and is currently preparing the Trust for the impending new EU Regulations when they come into force.
