Mary Phibbs FCA. is a Chartered Accountant with over thirty years’ experience in audit, advisory, banking, finance and insurance in the UK, Australia and Asia Pacific.
She currently holds a number of Non-Executive Directorships including at:
- Morgan Stanley International Limited, Morgan Stanley & Co. International plc, Morgan Stanley Bank International Limited and Morgan Stanley Securities Limited, where she chairs the Nomination & Governance Committee and is a member of the Audit and Risk Committees
- NewDay Group Limited –Where she chairs the Risk Committee and is a member of the Audit Committee.
- Novae Group plc – Where she is Chair of the Audit Committee and a member of the Risk, Remuneration and Nominations & Governance committees respectively.
Mary previously held the position of non-executive Director at the Nottingham Building Society, Novae Syndicates Limited , Friends Life Group plc ,the Charity Bank Limited, Stewart Title Ltd and Northern Rock plc during its period of temporary public ownership.
Her executive career included spending six months as interim group Chief Risk Officer for Allied Irish Banks plc during an intensive period of crisis and change for the Irish Banking sector. Previously Mary held a number of senior business and risk management roles at leading financial institutions such as Standard Chartered Bank in London and ANZ, National Australia Bank, Bankers Trust and the Commonwealth Bank in Australia. This was preceded by a period in the accounting profession in the UK and Australia. She holds an honours degree from Surrey University.
Professional affiliations include the Institute of Chartered Accountant in both England and Wales and Australia. Mary is an author of articles on risk management and governance and has provided senior executive training in the UK and overseas.
